MPYT returns to Wyeside with a gloriously bonkers take on Rumpelstiltskin

Mid Powys Youth Theatre (MPYT) returns to Wyeside Arts Centre this November with Rumpelstiltskin, a fresh and slightly bonkers take on the classic fairytale, made by young people from across Powys.

Combining original live music, inventive design, ensemble movement and plenty of glorious comedy, the production brings together young actors, musicians and backstage creatives to reimagine a familiar story in unexpected ways.

MPYT provides opportunities for young people aged 9–29 to develop their skills, build confidence and take part in ambitious theatre-making, both onstage and behind the scenes. The organisation is committed to making theatre accessible to all abilities, with no auditions required to join its groups.

The production follows a special teaser performance celebrating Wyeside Arts Centre’s 50th birthday, where all three of MPYT’s groups came together to share a glimpse of their work, including puppetry, games, audience participation and a preview of Rumpelstiltskin.

The full production runs from Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 November at Wyeside Arts Centre, Builth Wells. Family tickets are also available for £45, covering two adults and two under-16s.

Performance dates: 4–7 November 2026
Venue: Wyeside Arts Centre, Builth Wells
Tickets: Available via the Wyeside Arts Centre website.
