Bethan Dear
Bethan first trained as a performer and later as a director. She also writes, creates devised theatre, is a workshop facilitator, storyteller and a clown. She is the artistic director of Jackdaw Theatre and is proud to identify as a woman. She believes deeply in equality for all and is passionate about using theatre for social justice and social change.
Bethan has worked professionally in the theatre for the last 15 years with companies including; Jagged Fence, Nabakov, High Tide, Tamasha and Tangled Feet. She was based in London for a decade and made work at the BAC, Rich Mix, The Almeida, The Finborough, Oval House and Tara Arts. She has worked on an NT connections project on the Southbank and was invited to attend the prestigious NT studio directors course. She's worked with an array of incredible British actors, writers and directors, including. Maxine Peake, Michelle Terry, Anna Cartaret, Katherine Parkinson, Olivia Vinall, Sarah Frankcom, Blanche Macintyre, Phillip Osment, Jatinder Verma and Mathew Dunster. As well as wonderful international writers and artists including The Indian Ensemble, Abhishek Majumdar, Colleen Murphy and Ben Ellis. Bethan has also worked extensively in Youth theatre in the UK and overseas.
