What is MPYT?
MPYT is a theatre company for the young people of Powys. Living in an isolated, rural place can be hard. Let’s face it, there isn’t a whole lot of stuff going on much of the time - especially for young people interested in exploring the world and where you might fit in it or go next. MPYT is a safe, fun and welcoming place to experiment and try some new things out. It’s a way of exploring creativity, performance and ideas and people - as part of a team of like-minded young souls with new and different interests, or just as yourself.
We think of it as a safe place to be dangerous…
We’ve been doing what we do for over 35 years - and in that time we’ve seen not just future actors, performers, creatives, techies, designers, writers and directors pass through our doors, but countless creative souls who’ve built confidence, skills, friendships, memories, ideas and dreams and taken them all with them on their way into their adult lives.
We do this by introducing our young members to professional artists and creatives and all the amazing skills that theatre has to offer, through weekly and termly workshops and projects. We produce live community productions, run specific groups and projects for specific needs and ages and are constantly looking for new ways to offer our young people new opportunities and ways of getting involved.
Everyone is welcome - come along and try it.
